Hello! Welcome to my stagey corner of the internet. If you’re here, I’m guessing you also love all things theatre, so I’m thrilled to have you here. My name, as you might have gathered, is Alex, and I have been in love with live theatre for as long as I can remember.
I grew up dancing, training in Ballroom and Latin for sixteen years. At fourteen however, I discovered the wonderful world of Musical Theatre, and made the leap. Performing Hairspray at school in Year Ten was the turning point for me, igniting a love like never before, and I haven’t looked back since.
At eighteen, I moved 250 miles across the country – away from London – to Durham for university. For the first time, I felt lost. The absence of theatre in my life left a void – days felt emptier, and I found myself constantly itching to be back. Then, in my final year, an opportunity changed everything: I was offered the role of Stage Reviewer for Palatinate (Durham’s student publication). Writing about theatre – whether student productions, regional theatre or the odd West End show back home – relit my spark.
Over the past year, I have plunged myself into the world of theatre journalism, and it has been the best decision I have ever made. Now, I’m taking the leap into some independent bits – reviewing, commenting, lightheartedly discussing all things theatre. It is here that my passion manifests into something I can share with the world; I’d love for you to come along for the ride.
